Preparation for safety and health management

Please read the ¡°Overseas Travel Risk Management Guidebook¡± and make any necessary preparation to minimize risk from a ¡°health¡± and ¡°safety¡± aspect so that you may participate in your study or research without any hindrance. (Have health and dental check-ups, prepare first-aid medications, receive inoculations (vaccinations) as necessary, obtain beforehand relevant information about the country you are travelling to, prepare emergency contact lists etc.)

Travel Clinic of the University Health Service Center

The University Health Service Center provides medical advice concerning overseas travel.

Official Service and Necessary Procedures

- For students who are going to study abroad for more than 3 months

All Japanese nationals must submit the ¡°Overseas Residential Registration (ORR)¡± to a nearby Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General upon arrival. (This is a statutory requirement as specified by the Passport Act. You can also submit via the Internet. ) In case you are involved in accidents, troubles or unforeseen disasters, the Japanese Embassy/ Consulate-General is supposed to provide support using the location of residence and the emergency contact given on the ¡°ORR¡±.

For non-Japanese nationals, please make sure to carry out necessary procedures required by your own country¡¯s Embassy or Consulate-General in the region where you stay.

- For all students who are going to study abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has introduced a "Tabi Regi" system in July 2014 (for Japanese citizens). By entering the required information (itinerary, travel destination and contact details) into the Ministry's dedicated website, you can receive up-to-date information on your travel destination and email notifications of any arising emergency events as well as be contacted in cases of emergency, etc. We highly recommend that outbound students and researchers register with the system.
