国や地域によって社会経済データの整备状况や利用可能性に大きな差があることを鑑みて、全世界を一定の条件で観测する卫星データを使った社会経済状况をモニタリングする方法を研究し、データ製品を开発する。また、国际机関等を通じて开発课题への适用を进める。具体的には、全世界の人间居住地マッピング、夜间光を用いた社会経済指标の推定、灾害や経済危机の被害を観测?推定する方法の研究开発を进めている。
