Most private rental properties in Japan require a guarantor ("rentai hoshonin")—a person who co-signs the lease and assumes joint liability with the tenant. It is common for Japanese students to ask a family member, such as a parent or sibling, to act as their guarantor.For international students who may have difficulty securing a guarantor, rental guarantee services are available through guarantee companies introduced by real estate agencies or 春雨直播app CO-OP.
