This time, we are planning an exciting event with Professor, Jeffrey Sachs University Professor, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, who will be visiting the University of Tokyo. Professor Sachs delivers a lecture and engage in a dialogue with President Teruo Fujii and students, focusing on the global challenges faced by the world and the roles that Japan and the University of Tokyo should play. This event is moderated by Executive Vice President of ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app, Naoko Ishii. Come join this informative, meaningful, and inspiring event for all of ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app students!
“The New Politics of Sustainable Development”
Achieving sustainable development requires new strategies for national policy making and international cooperation. Public investments must be increased around the world and new long-term planning and financing mechanisms will be necessary to support the increase in public investments. Cooperation with neighboring countries and globally are more urgent than ever. All countries must make concerted efforts to reduce geopolitical tensions and military spending, with today’s military spending redirected towards sustainable development.
