Global Health Sciences/School of International Health
School of International Health is a program operated in English, in which all the academic activities including the entrance exam, lectures, exercise, and thesis writing and defense are conducted in English, and no Japanese competency is required to pursue the degree. Thirty to forty percent of the students in this program are foreign students coming from literally all over the world. Departments associated with the program have been dealing with contemporary issues including Global Health Policy, Human Genetics, Developmental Medical Sciences, Human Ecology, Biomedical Chemistry, Global Environmental Health, International Cooperation for Medical Education with various approaches such as natural science, social medicine, behavioral sciences, and environmental science. Through these activities, we are aiming to nurture top class researchers and international practitioners, who can take leadership roles in the international global health community. All the laboratories in the program have some collaboration with overseas universities and institutions; students in this program can take advantage of utilizing this international network and gain new knowledge through diverse societies and their worldviews, which enrich their own experiences and careers.
Aside from International Health, several programs in the Graduate School of Medicine do not require Japanese competency to pursue the degree, which is explicitly indicated in the guidelines for applicants in the homepage of the Graduate School of Medicine.
