The Housing Office was established as part of a project to create an environment for education, research and living suitable for a global campus as advocated in "FOREST 2015" – the former action scenario of the University of Tokyo. The Housing Office’s aim is to provide high-quality accommodation at affordable prices.
The Office currently operates dormitories and other accommodations for international students and researchers in the Mejirodai, Oiwake, Komaba and Kashiwa areas. Additional roles of the Office are to maintain the accommodation facilities and provide support to residents so they can live safely and comfortably.
In addition, the Housing Office offers both long- and short-term accommodation facilities for overseas students and researchers that can be applied to through the University of Tokyo. Information on rentable accommodations via private agencies also is available on the Office’s website.
