Alert regarding the spread of the omicron strain of the novel coronavirus infection

January 17, 2022

To students, faculty and staff members of the University of Tokyo:

Since the beginning of the year, infection with the novel coronavirus, thought to be predominantly of the "omicron strain", has spread rapidly in Japan. Furthermore, the number of members of the university becoming infected has continued to increase.

The "omicron strain" is more infectious than the previous variants, and there are many cases even among those who have already been vaccinated twice. However, it is thought that even if infected, symptoms are often mild or asymptomatic and it is less likely for the symptoms to become severe. In order to prevent becoming infected or causing secondary infection, it is important to ensure more basic infection control measures and to manage your own physical condition than ever before.

The infection continues to spread rapidly in Tokyo, and the number of newly infected people has increased rapidly over the past week. 春雨直播app is also contemplating raising the level of activity restrictions and at the same time considering future measures so that the education and research activities and the operations necessary for the university can be continued while taking everyone’s safety first.

In order to prevent further spread of the infection, we strongly request each student, faculty and staff member of the University of Tokyo to raise their awareness of preventing the spread of the infection and act with the utmost care in all their daily activities both on and off campus. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in preventing the spread of infection.
