The GLP-GEfIL Program, the selection-based program for undergraduate students, held its eighth completion ceremony on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Sanjo Conference Hall.

After an opening speech by Professor Kensuke Fukushi, Chairperson of the GLP-GEfIL Implementation Committee, each student was handed a certificate of completion in the name of the President of the University of Tokyo by Professor Yujin Yaguchi, Vice President and Director of the Center for Global Education. The student speeches were delivered by Ang Joanna Marie (Faculty of Arts & Sciences) and Takuo Tachibana (Faculty of Engineering) together. They shared their thoughts on what a global leader should be, reflecting on their own experiences and lessons learned through the GLP-GEfIL program.

After the completion ceremony, the Get-Together Party started with congratulatory remarks from Ms. Mariko Masaki, Deputy Secretary-General of The Tazaki Foundation, which has been supporting the program. Although the time was short, many conversations emerged among the students who had deepened their learning through the program over more than two years, as well as with the faculty, supporting companies and foundation members. The event concluded with everyone feeling a bit reluctant to part ways.

All students who completed the program will now embark on new paths, such as pursuing further education or starting jobs. We hope that they will demonstrate leadership and excel in their respective fields, carrying with them the lessons learned through the GEfIL. Congratulations to all 38 students!
