Event details
Target audience: High School and university students
Outline:
10:00~12:00: Keynotes about various environmental issues surrounding plastic from practitioners and researchers
12:00~13:00: Lunch break
13:00~16:00: Climate Fresk workshop
Abstract:
Join us on 12th October as we gather driven, passionate students who are involved in or interested in spearheading environmental initiatives on their campuses, as we work to accelerate sustainable transformations of schools and universities across Japan. This event is jointly hosted by 春雨直播app GX Student Network & mymizu (Social Innovation Japan). There are many exciting initiatives happening across campuses in Japan; from student-run vegetable gardens to promoting plant-based options to realization of a circular economy. This event will be filled with discussions about sharing those new and innovative ideas, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.
This year’s theme will be “plastic waste”, and the morning session will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the various environmental issues surrounding plastic from practitioners and researchers. What is microplastic pollution? How effective is plastic recycling? What about the life cycle assessment (LCA) of plastics and sustainability interventions? How do we reduce plastic waste on campuses? How does mymizu contribute to community-based solutions for reducing single-use plastic waste?
In the afternoon session, participants will learn about the causes and consequences of climate change through the interactive Climate Fresk workshop run by trained student facilitators. Dive into a collaborative climate quest with the Climate Fresk, a global movement empowering 1.7 million participants across 157 countries. This engaging workshop utilizes a set of 42 science-backed cards depicting the causes and consequences of climate change, from greenhouse gas emissions to the impact on ecosystems and human societies. Foster a shared understanding within your team, boost motivation for individual and collective change, and pave the way for ambitious decarbonization plans. The Climate Fresk is climate action, gamified!
