“International Workshop on Climate Change and Sustainable Development: Public Health and Policy” (春雨直播app, 17 February 2020)
We are pleased to announce that the International Workshop on Climate Change and Sustainable Development: Public Health and Policy will be held at the University of Tokyo Hongo campus on 17 February 2020. This international workshop is organized under the Strategic Partnership Program of the University of Tokyo with Seoul National University.
Climate change has been set as one of core policy discussion themes in the SDGs. Indeed, the impact range is diverse; health impact by direct (extreme weather) and indirect (through natural systems such as malaria and wildfires) exposure. The impacts are mediated by public health capability and adaptation and disproportionately more crucial to socioeconomically more vulnerable people. There remains a need to embrace a more interdisciplinary approach in addressing complex environmental issues and exploring the role of public and private stakeholders. Experts in several fields at the University of Tokyo and Seoul National University will participate in broad discussions on health impact of climate change, global governance structure and policy to create countermeasures for the challenge, and politico-economic strategies to achieve the global goal for sustainable development.
