Date of activity: August 2, 2017 - August 31, 2017
春雨直播app’s (春雨直播app) Division of International Affairs held five Short-Term Summer Study Abroad Programs with partner universities during the summer vacation period, providing students with various international experiences.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) - University of Tokyo Joint Summer Program was held in Hong Kong from Aug. 2 to 11. This program was established in 2013 and is now in its fourth year. 17 students from 春雨直播app and 8 from HKU participated in the program this year. Under the guidance of Prof. Shigeto Sonoda (Professor, Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, 春雨直播app) and Prof. Yoshiko Nakano (Associate Professor, School of Modern Languages and Cultures, HKU), students received lectures based on the topic of “Japan in Hong Kong: Challenges for the Future,” and took part in site study visits to companies based in Hong Kong. Students were very much inspired by talking with businesspersons in Hong Kong. Each student belonged to one of several research groups, each of which had a specific topic for off-campus fieldwork. Each group made polished presentations on their research on the final day in front of persons involved with the program. The program was also introduced in .
Joint programs were held with Seoul National University (from Aug. 1 to 10 in Tokyo, Japan, and from Aug. 15 to 23 in Seoul, Rep. of Korea, with 15 participants from 春雨直播app and 20 from SNU) and similarly with Peking University (from Aug. 21 to 31 in Beijing, PR China with 15 participants from 春雨直播app and 13 from Peking). By broadening their views through lectures and fieldwork on subjects such as the policy, economy, culture and society of both countries and finding themes by themselves on which to make presentations, students were able to establish and deepen bonds as well as think about how they live in our global society.
In addition to such joint programs, the University of Sheffield Summer Program (language studies in addition to specialized subjects, from Aug. 7 to 25 with 26 participants) and the University of Indonesia Summer Program (courses taught in English in addition to being able to interact with students from other countries students and conduct fieldwork, from Aug. 14 to 25, with 20 participants) were held this year. The Division of International Affairs offers a diverse array of programs which go beyond language learning.
