【Nobel Week, Day 10】 After Interacting with Japanese Schoolchildren in Stockholm, Professor Kajita Attends the Nobel Week Closing Reception

Today was the final day of the Nobel Week, which started on December 6th. It was a sunny day but would get incredibly cold when the wind blew—typical for weather during this week. In the afternoon, Professor Kajita visited the headquarters of the Nobel Foundation located in central Stockholm to receive the Nobel Medal that he had entrusted to the Foundation the day before.
Afterwards, Professor Kajita visited a supplementary school for Japanese students in Stockholm and talked with the students about neutrinos and the Super-Kamiokande facility. The students had prepared questions that they wanted to ask Professor Kajita, such as “How much does a neutrino weigh?” and “What is your favorite food?” He answered those questions with a smile and enjoyed interacting with the schoolchildren.
In the evening, Professor Kajita and Mrs. Michiko Kajita, together with the other 2015 Nobel Laureates, attended the closing reception held at the Nobel Foundation. With this reception, the Nobel Week and all of its events came to a close.
Meanwhile, Professor Kajita’s guests left in advance of the professor, departing for Japan, the U.S. and other destinations yesterday and today.
