Please give a short introduction of yourself.

I am Shantanu Misra from India. I am currently doing my master of engineering in electronics and materials science from Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu.

What is your favorite thing about Hamamatsu City?

Hamamatsu being an industrial area is the thing which I like about it the most. It¡¯s a perfect opportunity for young researchers like us to come in contact with industrial world. In addition to this Hamamatsu is a perfect place to live, it¡¯s peaceful and people are too kind.

In what way has your impression of Hamamatsu City or Japan changed since coming here?

Yes certainly the impression of Japan has changed since I came here. It¡¯s better than what I expected. The people are too kind and soft spoken. It¡¯s a clean city and quite amazing considering the tourism aspect.

What attracted you to choose Shizuoka University as a place to study?

Me being from electronics field, Shizuoka university was providing me a perfect opportunity to world in this field and give me a chance to grow myself in research field. Plus, Shizuoka university provided me with a scholarship.

In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?

I made a lot of Japanese friends and tried to adjust myself. Indian and Japanese cultures are moreover similar so it wasn¡¯t a big task.

Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?

It¡¯s a perfect place to grow yourself. The industrial opportunity available after studies is incomparable with any country in this planet. Japan is a perfect place to live and I would recommend each and every research aspirants to do their studies from Japan.
