JAPAN EDUCATION FAIR 2013

Japan Education Fair took place on September 7, 2013 at Bishop Cotton Boys' School, a reputed school in Bangalore. Around 600 students and visitors came to the fair. Out of the 13 Global 30 universities, 9 universities£¨Tohoku, Nagoya, Kyoto, Kyushu, Keio, Waseda, Doshisha, Ritsumeikan and ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app£© participated and had booths in the classrooms on campus for discussion with students.
The chief guest, Prof. C.N.R. Rao (79, Chemist), Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, gave an inspiring address, where he strongly encouraged students to consider pursuing their education in Japan. ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app£¨´ºÓêÖ±²¥app£©’s¡¡Vice President of International Affairs, Prof. Haneda, Prof. Yamanouchi of the Department of Chemistry, School of Science, and Mr. Yamamoto, Head of¡¡the¡¡Consulate¡¡of¡¡Japan,¡¡Bangalore¡¡delivered¡¡speeches¡¡during¡¡the¡¡seminar¡¡session.¡¡This¡¡was¡¡followed¡¡by a¡¡panel¡¡discussion¡¡featuring¡¡alumni,¡¡recent¡¡graduates¡¡and¡¡new¡¡students¡¡at¡¡´ºÓêÖ±²¥app,¡¡Kyushu¡¡University and Waseda University. We were grateful to Mr. Gorab Majumdar, Director, Mitsubishi Electric, Japan, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Vice President Marketing of Toyota Kirloskar and Mr. Mansoor Khan, Treasurer, Delhi Public Schools in Bangalore for their value time and participating in the panel discussion. Prof. Vinayachandran, an ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app alumni and a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science moderated the discussion. Then the nine universities each gave a presentation introducing themselves to the audience. After the seminar, a special documentary feature on Mr. Miura, the oldest mountaineer to climb Mt. Everest at the age of 80 was on the screen in the auditorium.
Japan Foundation, JICA and Bangalore Nihongo KyooshiKai (BNK) offered a Japanese Culture workshop and introduced origami and yukata (Japanese summer kimono). Four Japanese companies of KOKUYO¡¡Camlin, Learning Systems and MIURA Dolphins and YAKULT joined this event and three Japanese companies JR-East , JR-Central and MHI provided beautiful posters for display.
