The Todai-IIT Undergraduate Scholarship

With the aim of promoting higher education in Japan and building an Indo-Japan network of future leaders in industry, Mori Seki Co. Ltd. and ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app (known for short as Todai) established an undergraduate scholarship program in 5 of the IITs across India in 2008. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding students of IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Madras.

Scholarship Award Ceremony 2013

The scholarship award ceremony took place on March 4, 2013 via video conference between the 5 IITs and ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app. The ceremony was conducted by Prof. Masashi Haneda, Vice President and Director General of the Division of International Affairs, ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app. Other participants from Tokyo included Mr. Munetaka Nishimura, General Manager, Human Resources, Mori Seki Co. Ltd., and from the University of Tokyo, Ms. Mutsuko Inoue, General Manager, International Affairs Department, Ms. Akiko Ito, Manager International Exchange Group, and Mr. Masato Fukushi, Deputy Manager, International Exchange Group. Representing the University of Tokyo in India, Mr. Hiroshi Yoshino, Director, ´ºÓêÖ±²¥app India Office took part in the ceremony at IIT Madras. From each of the 5 IITs the student awardees, faculty and administrative staff participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony began with Prof. Haneda and Mr. Nishimura congratulating the students and encouraging them to flourish in their careers as internationally minded leaders in their fields. Following the opening remarks, an overview of the University of Tokyo, the courses available in English and the trend in international students was given. The awardees were then introduced by their faculty. IIT Hyderabad presented the nature of collaboration between IIT-H and Japan on their campus.
Finally, the certificates of scholarship were presented to the students.
