The past couple of years have seen some remarkable developments in competition law, as authorities have come under pressure to use competition law to tackle an ever-widening set of issues. These include questions
raised by the digitalisation of industry, the rise in power of GAFA and other digital platforms, dysfunctions in labour markets and the distortive effects of subsidies. This talk will survey the recent trends in competition law and enforcement in the EU and Japan.
